350 meters

導演.義來Dir: Fernando Eloy 2008/42’

在2006年,應ESPN/ Star Sports電視臺之邀,為該電視臺【For Men Only】電視節目製作了一系列短片。

“Jury’s Commendation Award ” of “Macao International Film and Video Festival 2008—Macao Indies”

This documentary is an interpretation of the current social trends in Macao. It attempts to capture Macao’s inner soul and to preserve its memory. It is an act of love for the people of Macao, people that the authors believe themselves to belong to. 350 meters is a 24-hour journey through Cinco de Outubro Street, a living remnant of what Macao once was; a short trip through dwindling ways of life now facing uncertainty. With this documentary, it was our objective to bring up memories and vanishing legacies. In short, we hope 350 meters will be a reminder that cultural identity, harmony and social development are hardly ever build up on just cement and money.

About the Director

Fernando Eloy. He usually says that it was the radio that pushed him into life. He started in the mid eighties as radio DJ in around Lisbon, Portugal, and later founded, with two other friends, Radio 98 – which was one of the most prestigious youth radios in Lisbon, and was later renamed Super FM. In 1996, he managed to take the first Surfing World Championship to Portugal, an event that he promoted for 2 years. In 2001, he moved to Macao, where he joined the Macao East Asian Games Organizing Committee. In 2006, he was invited by ESPN/ Star Sports to produce a series of segments for their show “For Men Only”. Currently, he works for ACOLOP (the Association of Portuguese Speaking Olympic Committees).
