1999/12/20.Not to Forget

Chu Iao Ian 1999/ 23’

The date not to forget is 20th December, 1999. It was a sentimental day to a group of Portuguese in Portugal. They cannot forget Macau, their home where they spent their wild, young days.

The director set foot on Portugal for the first time in 1999. What he had on hand was the phone number of a Portuguese who used to live in Macau. A series of phone calls brought along friends one after another. Their deep affection and fond memories of Macau were affectionate verse of the city. The director, aside from being overwhelmed, had an awakening.

The film was shown in a square on the night Macau returned to China, one of the very few alternative programmes celebrating the return of Macau at that time.
